2019 Nicolas Arnou Premier Né09976
WINEMAKER: Nicolas Arnou
REGION: Loire Valley, FR
100% Grolleau noir, picked very ripe, 3 weeks maceration in whole bunches, manual pressing. A surprising wine, greedy and glug glug at the same time.
After training as an electronics engineer and beginning his career at Airbus, Nicolas chose to return to his roots and carry out a project that has driven him for a long time: living among the vines, listening to them and extracting wine from them. which respects and expresses all their qualities.
The idea has been growing since 2002, and his first tasting lessons with Aymeric Hilaire. But it was in 2016 that he took the plunge: abandoning aeronautics, he began a demanding training, completed by a year spent in the Jura with Manu Houillon and Pierre Overnoy, where he learned the methods of natural wine. From then on, wines without sulfites become obvious.
In 2018, he bought an old 19th century cellar and the adjoining Clos vines, in the Layon valley. It is a region he knows well, close to his family - his parents were farmers in the region - and his friends. He can then supervise his first harvest, and continue the dialogue with the natural winegrowers of the region, in the forefront of which Didier Chaffardon.
