2022 Domaine de Thalie Atout Vent Mâcon-Village

REGION: Burgundy, FR
VARIETY: Chardonnay
VITICULTURE: Organic/Biodynamic
Limestone clay soils at 400 meters altitude, directly pressed, elevage in tank and amphora. "The fruit is elegant on its initial approach, it moves to citrus pith and white peaches. Precise and mineral driven, there’s generosity to the fruit yet its restrained. With lovely acidity and length." - Liz Carey
Peter Gierszewski was a wine merchant prior to beginning Domaine de Thalie in 2009. Located in the town of Bray, up in the hills above Cluny, the estate now consists of 5.5 hectares. With a diverse array of soils; Clay limestone at higher altitude, granitic soils lower and a band of iridescent marls not seen widely in the area, the terroir is a huge component of what brings each cuvee its own personality. The vines have a westward orientation rather than SW and the plots fall within an altitude of 300 – 450 meters. Peter’s farming has been organic since the beginning, converting to biodynamics in 2014. Fermentation is with indigenous yeast, the wines are un-fined and unfiltered. A small part of sulphur is added at bottling.
